The Regal Cinema in Fordingbridge first opened in 1933. It was built in a classic Art Deco style, and had 290 seats. It thrived for many years, but social changes led to its closure in 1965. Since then it operated as a pottery, but that business also closed in 2012.
The Regal Cinema reopened in the Summer of 2017. This beautiful Art Deco building has been transformed into its former 1930’s glory, providing a truly unique cinematic experience. In addition to the original foyer entrance there is a deluxe 30 seater auditorium and an elegant bar area.
James Babb Workshops have made several internal components for the Cinema including the whole bar, the ticket booth which stands in the centre of the entrance foyer, the screen surround in the auditorium and some of the bar and foyer seating. We used a beautiful ripple maple veneer which works very well with the art deco design and ties in very well with the overall colour scheme.
